One Minute for Munich

On behalf of the Zionist Federation UK, please note the details below of the minute’s silence on Friday July 27th. This is in memory of the Israeli athletes murdered in Munich in 1972.

Please join us in a minute’s silence at 11:00am.

In the light of the I.O.C’s decision not to hold a minute’s silence during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, we have started a campaign to ask people to take a moment and stand in silence for one minute as a personal tribute to those who lost their lives in the 1972 Munich Massacre. We are asking people to join us and stand in silence, wherever they may be and whatever they may be doing, at 11.00am on Friday 27th July (the morning of the Opening Ceremony).

We will also be holding a short memorial service that will be streamed live via a webcast from 10.45am on the day and will finish with the minute’s silence at 11.00am. To tune in to view the webcast please go to

We have created a Facebook event page for this campaign which you can go to at Please invite all your Facebook friends to this event and encourage them to the same with theirs.

We hope that you will support this campaign and invite all your friends to do the same. Can we also ask you to send out this notice out through any relevant mailing lists that you use? We must show the world that the murdered athletes will never be forgotten.
