Keren Malki – The Malki Foundation

We are passing on this message about Keren Malki, which we think is very worthy of your support.

Dear friends,

My wife Frimet and I set up Keren Malki in 2001. Now the foundation that bears the name of our murdered daughter is embarking on a full week of awareness-raising activities in the UK. I am writing to ask you and other friends and personal contacts in the UK to help make this a success.

As I hope you agree, Keren Malki has established a track record of which its supporters can be proud. Day by day, it does a great deal of good in helping families who live in Israel and who care at home for a child with serious disabilities. The work of Keren Malki has always been, and remains, non-sectarian and non-political. The focus is firmly on the child with special needs, and the child’s supportive family.

As founders, Frimet and I were determined from the outset that ours would be the role of unpaid volunteers, guiding its overall direction and helping to raise funds. A small and dedicated professional team headed by Debbie Fishman manages its operations, helped hugely by the input of dedicated volunteers in Israel, as well as in the US, Australia and the UK.

The positive momentum achieved by our London based “Friends” organization, Keren Malki UK, comes largely from the tireless voluntary efforts of Daniel Mann who recently stepped down after seven years of yeoman service as honorary chair. Our hopes now are to capitalize on what Daniel and his committee achieved. To guide the efforts of the volunteer committee, and as part of our overall strategic plan, we have engaged the services of a marketing expert, Nicole Gordon. Nicole’s enthusiasm for the cause has been the driving force behind the upcoming Keren Malki UK events.

We will have an intense round of meetings and activities in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and London in the week starting March 4, including two early-morning business breakfasts (one in Manchester, one in London) with distinguished speakers. An outline of what is planned can be viewed here [click].

To achieve our goals, we are counting on those who already know something of the good that Keren Malki does to help to spread the word via their contacts with friends in those UK communities as well as in the media.

Please alert your neighbours, family, colleagues, friends in the UK about the upcoming Keren Malki programmes. Word of mouth has helped us grow over the years, and is a great way to attract support.

You might also consider pointing your contacts to a freshly-made, three-minute-long video clip which captures some of Keren Malki’s message; it’s on YouTube here [click].

And there is a brand-new Keren Malki UK website [here] that serves as a great starting point for anyone who wants to know more.

As always, we will be glad to hear whatever feedback you care to share. Thank you in advance for your support and advice.
